Your written documents are your calling cards! Your organisation’s writing style strongly impacts the image your products or services present. This is true for all texts, from simple letters and manuals to the company’s terms and conditions, and from marketing brochures to websites – and this applies both to the translation as well as the original document.
Poor translations get very bad press, and rightly so. No one ever talks about quality translations, however. That’s no surprise – they go unnoticed. And the better the quality, the less we notice them, however ubiquitous they are in our daily and professional lives. In fact, these translations do not ‘feel’ like translations at all: logically constructed, well phrased and terminologically sound, they simply come across as well written ‘originals’. They manage to create the intended impact even in a different cultural context.
It is not enough to simply render the facts flawlessly – complex as they may be – for written communication to be convincing. It is just as important that the document flows well. The basic requirements for a successful translation also include adaptation to the target audience, careful editing and impeccable style.
Achieving all these goals within an often very tight timeframe has been my daily challenge for many years, and one that I face with great enthusiasm. My assets include a strong mistrust of word-to-word solutions, a solid international education and training and last but not least, the regular exchange of experiences and ideas with colleagues.
I am fully committed to quality. I translate exclusively into German, my native language. Conscientious research, on-time delivery and discretion go without saying for me – and the loyalty my clients have shown over the years proves me right.
